The Cake Boss star Buddy Valestro gets to keep his famous nickname after ripping off the copyright from a company called Masters Software. Masters Software makes the “CakeBoss” software for bakers that allows them to do everything from calculate the exact cost they should charge for their cake to tracking all expenses and orders. They were providing their software to bakers long before Buddy ever dirty iced his way to television.
The TLC people tell us that the network just reached a “confidential” settlement with Masters Software Inc. In short, TLC forked over a boatload of cash to make Masters Software go away and leave Buddy and his baking empire alone.
TLC will be able to continue to use the Cake Boss name for its show as well as their merchandising and Masters Software will be able to continue to use the name for its “CakeBoss” software.
Further proof that cash rules.
